Obituary of Rosemarie B. Walz
OBITUARY FOR ROSEMARIE WALZ - WOODSIDE. QUEENS
Rosemarie Walz was born on August 7, 1932 to Lydia and Herman Walz, immigrants from Germany in 1927 and 1929 respectively. She attended elementary schools in Astoria and graduated in 1950 from Bryant High School. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1954 from Hunter College with a BA in Spanish and Education and was elected into the Spanish Honor Society as well as the German Honor Society. She was the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship for the study of German literature in Erlangen, Germany from 1954-55. She returned to Hunter College and received her MA in German in 1958. She was listed in the 1965 edition of Who's Who in the East. She taught both Spanish and German in Richmond Hill High School and Grover Cleveland High School from 1956 - 1982. From then on until 2014 she taught German only at the German-American School in Ridgewood. At the time of her demise on January 25,2024.
She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Ridgewood. She was waked
at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels and buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery.
