Joseph was a very dedicated husband to my dear sister, Alice, and father to James and Theresa, my nephew and niece. He was truly a valued volunteer in his service to his beloved St Matthias Church. I pray for all the family that all be comforted in knowing that my dear brother in law be United with Lord Jesus..
A donation in his memory has been provided to Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens.

My love, thoughts, and prayers are with Joseph and Theresa and the entire Wilfinger family and their many friends.
Joe was always so friendly and kind when I would see him in church or in the neighborhood and he always spoke so proudly of his family!
I am sorry that I could not share my condolences in person, but you will all remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Joe was a caring, loving, thoughtful husband and father who did everything for his family. I hold dear many childhood memories, we were all an extended family growing up together on Summerfield Street. Joe Wilfinger was always a friendly nice person to talk to and I am so saddened by his passing. My deepest condolences to Theresa and James , your father was a wonderful person who loved you both dearly and I pray that you both find peace and comfort in memories of your dad and know that you have another angel in heaven to watch over you both. May God bless Joe Wilfinger and may he rest in peace. You and your family are in my thoughts and in my prayers.

I remember Joseph Wilfinger always as a kind, honorable family man. As his daughter, Theresa, and I were childhood friends - he is ever present in my childhood memories and also as I grew up throughout the years in Ridgewood. He was always a loving husband, father and grandfather; a proud veteran and a deeply religious and faithfully observant Catholic. He would always go out of his way to be helpful if you needed it. He was always kind, cheerful, gregarious and friendly! And most impressive of all, he put his strong faith into action by being an integral part of his church, St.Matthias, and assisting in providing Communion to the most isolated, lonely and vulnerable home-bound parishioners - who no doubt looked forward all week to his visit and friendly caring presence. His instinct is always to help! I send my condolences and prayers to his family and friends, who will mourn and miss him. I will miss his cheerful hello when I would see him at church or in the neighborhood. But I know he is protected, joyful and at peace in the embrace of God and happy to be rejoined with his wife! And his family can be assured that he will always continue to be a faithful, loving, watchful and protective presence in spirit to his family - as his passing can not extinguish his devotion to those whom he loved so dearly!

We are all so heartbroken. We cry for ourselves because we know you are at peace in the kingdom of heaven. You were and are the best father in law a girl could ever want. You took me and my family in as your own and never let go. You are with your Alice now. Right now the world seems a little colder but you will shine your ray down on us. You prayed for all. I love you now, forever and always. Godspeed to all of us. Until we meet again, forever in our hearts

Dad you taught me how to love, pray and be a good person. We enjoyed eating at diners and bbq at my house. You loved to sing at church and often asked for the page number. We played games, laughed and always were close. You loved being with family. You spoiled us.You devoted yourself to be a prayerful person, loving husband, father ,grandpa and uncle. You brought only goodness into the world and I am so proud to have had you as my dad. I love you forever until I see you again. You are my hero❤
