Obituary of Robert D. Caggiano

Robert Caggiano was born on February 27, 1968, at Wyckoff Hospital to the late Dominick and Marilyn Caggiano. He grew up with his parents and siblings in the Brooklyn area and attended Thomas A Edison Vocational and Tech High School in Queens NY. Robert loved recording things. He was a Videographer and always recorded the events at Ridgewood SDA Church. He was the church's Historian and Timekeeper. Robert wrote everything down and had a great memory for all the things that had happened. Robert became a baptized member of the Ridgewood SDA church on November 27, 1999, under Pastor Philip Sica. Robert served in the audio-visual department, as a deacon and recyclable/grounds keeper for the church. He was always available as a member of the church. You can count on him to open and close the church doors for members or the utility guy. He would be the last to leave the church making sure everyone was safely out. He helped with the Ridgewood Street Fairs, Evangelism sidewalk tables and Food distributions. Robert was a dedicated Christian. He was always giving out tracks which he had in many languages and didn't get discourage. Robert was a big help in the church's kitchen. He often helped with cleaning up. If there wasn't any juice, he would make iced tea. Robert loved West-Indian and Italian food. He loved soup and pizza. He wasn't afraid to taste or try new foods. He liked to bake pumpernickel bread in his bread machine. He had a Kangen water machine, and he would bring a bottle of water to church and share with the people he was sitting with around the table. Robert was a friend to many. He helped people with their projects. He sold pantyhose and collected old/worn ones for the Ridgewood Library. He attended the senior center, Friendly Connections Center on Myrtle Ave. He had over 200 friends on Facebook. He spoke a little bit in other languages. Someone referred to him as the Gentle Giant. Robert met and married Eliana Louis Montero. They loved going to church together, spending time with friends, shopping and worshiping. His wife cared for him until his death at Queens General Hospital on Friday October 14, 2021. Robert was a faithful servant, husband and friend. He will be greatly missed.
