I feel really lucky to have gotten to meet and know, at least a little bit, Gary and Doc's charming and kind father "Howie". What a cheerful, upbeat person, carrying the light where ever he went. Little did I know that when he was visiting last fall, it would be the last time I'd see him. God bless you, Howard White. May your soul soar in this next part of your journey, just like it seemed to in life. With love and respect, Becky (I go with Michael Whelan).

Howie:
His sons usually referred to him as Howie, more than Dad as I recall. I think this typifies that he was like a friend and buddy to them as well as a father. I always felt his indomitable "young at heart" spirit from the time I first met him some 30 plus years ago till the last time in his early 90's. He was a great guy and I am glad to have known him. I am virtually certain he is in a better place now. R.I.P. Howie

To Gary/Glenn/Betty and the entire family, our sincerest condolences. We enjoyed Howie's visits to SF over the last 30 plus years. He was a great character, a fun, engaging personality .I particularly enjoyed our "Yankee - Red Sox" banter. RIP Howie.

Howard White was the most animated man over 70 (much less older) I knew. I would marvel at how year after year when he would visit his sons in CA I would get older, but he wouldn't. How could this be!?? After awhile I stopped trying to figure it out and just enjoyed our conversations about NYC and the Yankees, occasions I will surely miss. I hope when I am anywhere near my 9nth decade I can have a sliver of the class and vibrancy he did. Gary and Doc, I'm sure he made you proud.

There are so many things you can say about Howard happy, always in good spirits, positive, loving and caring, just to name a few. When I visited NY he always wanted to know when I was arriving or leaving so he could check on me.
When I last saw Howard he told me,"You pray for me and I'll pray for you." Howard was a light in my life.
Rest eternal grant him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him.

Pop lived a long and happy life. Up until the very end he could still articulate his wishes, watched sports with his sons and visited with family and friends. Of course he has passed, but he's not gone. He lived his life the way he wanted and imparts that gift to all of us.

My Dad was a very good man. He was a loving father to his sons, a loving husband, a loving relative and a loving neighbor. He positively impacted many people in the world on the east coast and west. He will be sorely missed.

Howard was a very gracious and loving Friend! We enjoyed sharing conversations about the Yankees, New York, and family. He was a most welcomed guest in our home and church. He called Miriam "Baby" and referred to Bob as a Dear Friend. We are so grateful to have shared life with him! Howard, rest in peace in God's loving arms.
Love,
Bob & Miriam
