Amanda Conte

Obituary of Amanda L Conte

Amanda L. Conte, age 29, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Addeo Hospice House after an almost decade long battle with brain cancer on March 12, 2022. Amanda was born in Newton, MA to Tom and Loretta Conte on December 7, 1992. Amanda graduated from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, MA. Amanda overcame the obstacle of her diagnosis at age 21 and completed her Bachelor’s degree in the Science of Nursing with Cum Laude honors from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth after her first of three brain surgeries. Amanda went on to pass her NCLEX-RN and earn her nursing license, an endeavor she had been working towards since she first started volunteering at Sturdy Memorial Hospital at age 14. Amanda’s favorite quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” mirrors how she lived her life. After recovering from her first surgery, she dedicated herself to advocating for the National Brain Tumor Society and traveled to Washington DC to support legislation for increased research on brain tumors. Amanda started her nursing career at Sturdy Memorial Hospital and most recently devoted her time to caring for patients in their home. Amanda was preceded in death by her beloved father Tom. She is survived by her brother David Conte of Staten Island NY, her mother Loretta Conte of Mansfield MA, and uncle Andrew Conte of Queens NY, along with many beloved cousins and her second family of friends all over Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Amanda was passionate about impacting people’s lives with positivity. She was selfless and practiced compassion, kindness and generosity to strangers and loved ones alike. She inspired people to live fearlessly and love fiercely. There will be visiting hours in Ridgewood, New York at Ridgewood Chapels on Friday March 18th, 2022 from 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM.
