Obituary of Lilli Prochner

Lilli Prochner, 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 7th, 2022. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Lilli at the Morton Ridgewood Chapel, 663 Grandview Ave in Ridgewood on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 4-8 PM. There will be prayers at the Morton Ridgewood Chapel at 12:30 PM on Tuesday January 11, 2022, followed by the burial at Cypress Hills Cemetery. Lilli was born in Lodz, Poland on December 21, 1923, and then moved to Germany, where she survived both the Nazi and Russian occupation during World War II. She came to Ridgewood, NY in 1956 with her husband George and three children Peter, John, and Gabriele. She worked in the garment industry in Ridgewood for 40 years, sewing beautiful sweaters. Lilli was active in her local church, Trinity Reformed Church, while living in Ridgewood. She spent the last 14 years living independently in Harrison, NJ near her daughter Gabriele and grandson Tom. Lilli's love for children was shown in all the knitted and crocheted sweaters, blankets, hats, and gloves she made which were sent to children in need all around the world. She was an avid reader, often reading a book a day, doing her sudoku and Rätzle puzzles, playing Scrabble, taking walks and admiring nature, baking her special cakes and cookies and spending time with her loving family. Lilli brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone around her and every life that she touched. Lilli was the beloved wife of her husband George (deceased in 1986) for 41 years; cherished mother of Peter Prochner and his wife Patricia, John and his wife Linda, and daughter Gabriele Zygnerski; dear grandmother, affectionately called Omi, of Christopher, Erica, Nick and his wife Tricia, Tom, Christa and Gabrielle; and loving great grandmother of Matthew, Jack, Kevin, Freddie, Jared, Victoria, Lyle and Callie. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the organization, World Vision, which Lilli spent 20 years making her homemade knitted wears for children in poverty. https://mycause.worldvision.org/campaign/Omi
