With profound sadness and overwhelming sorrow, we announce that our adored mother, Silvia, was gently carried in the arms of the angels to be reunited with our beloved father, Trajan. Though our hearts are forever broken, we take comfort in knowing that God, in His mercy, granted Silvia a peaceful passing, surrounded by love, dignity, and the presence of those who cherished her most.
Silvia was born in Nikolinci, Yugoslavia, during the hardship and uncertainty of World War II, the eldest daughter of Cornel and Ana Ignat. From an early age, she embodied quiet strength, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility that would shape the way she lived her life and cared for others.
In 1959, Silvia married the love of her life, Trajan Coloka. Their marriage was one of deep devotion, partnership, and unwavering love. Together, they built a life rooted in mutual respect, laughter, and enduring commitment, remaining inseparable for 55 beautiful years. Their greatest joy came with the birth of their daughters, Rodika and Silvia, who were blessed beyond measure to be raised by parents whose love was constant, selfless, and unconditional.
In 1968, with courage and hope for a brighter future, Silvia and Trajan made the life-changing decision to leave their homeland and come to New York. Through determination, sacrifice, and hard work, they built a new life from the ground up, creating opportunities for their daughters that reflected their dreams and aspirations. Their journey was one of perseverance, faith, and quiet triumph.
Silvia made her home in Ridgewood for 57 years, where she became a beloved presence in her community. She worked as a seamstress in a factory, dedicating herself to her craft with skill and pride. Beyond her work, Silvia had a remarkable gift for creating beauty in everyday life. She was an exceptional baker whose kitchen was always filled with warmth and the comforting aroma of homemade treats. Her talents extended to crafts and gardening, where her creativity and gentle touch brought life, color, and joy to everything she nurtured.
Above all, Silvia was a woman of extraordinary kindness and grace. She possessed a gentle spirit, a warm heart, and a generosity that knew no bounds. She forgave easily, loved deeply, and gave selflessly. Her strength was quiet but unwavering; her presence calming and reassuring. She touched countless lives—not through grand gestures, but through small, meaningful acts of care, compassion, and love that will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew her. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her spirit, values, and the memories she created will remain with us always.
Silvia is lovingly survived by her daughter Rodika and son-in-law Edward, and her daughter Silvia and son-in-law John. She is also survived by her sister Kornelia and brother-in-law Zoran, sister-in-law Maria, and her cherished nieces and nephews—Ljubisa and Jelena, Misa and Sharon, Olgica and Derek, and Gina and Ioan.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
