Obituary of Ashvin Parikh

Ashvin S. Parikh, age 76, passed away on September 6, 2019 in Woodside, NY at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

 

Funeral services will be held at Morton’s Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels on September 14, 2019 at 11:00 am.  Cremation services will follow for family members at Fresh Pond Crematory, 61-40 Mt. Olivet Crescent, Middle Village, NY.  Visitation will be held at Morton’s Funeral Home on September 14, 2019 at 11:00 am. 

 

Ashvin S. Parikh, was born in Patan, India to Sevantilal and GulabBen Parikh on January 6, 1943. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Surat University (now called Veer Narmad South Gujarat University), graduating at the top of his class, earning him a gold medal. He first worked as a Lab Technician and Researcher for Atul Limited, a chemical conglomerate, for 9 years. He became Manager of Derby Dies Chemical Company, all while being a Consultant for various Chemical companies across Bombay. A few short years after moving to New York in 1980, he purchased and operated Sheprin Enterprises (1987-2009), a convenience store in Astoria, Queens. He enjoyed a loyal customer base that loved him dearly. His friends and family regarded him with great respect and love due to his kindness, compassion, and generosity. He enjoyed television/movies, playing cards with his friends, and spending quality time with his family.

 

Ashvin S. Parikh is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Bharati A. Parikh, of Woodside, NY, two sons and their spouses, Dr. & Mrs. Nehal & Nina Parikh, Dr. & Mrs. Ripal and Viraj Parikh, a daughter and her spouse Mrs. and Mr. Shephali and Junior Parikh-Islam and his four grandchildren, Milan, Maya, Kishan, and Aakash. He is preceded in death by his father, Sevantilal Parikh and mother GulabBen Parikh.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, at michaeljfox.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all family and friends that have said a prayer or reached out to offer words of comfort. Your support at this difficult time is invaluable.
