John was truly a great man. Even when I visited him at QCC in his last months, he was filled with so much life. We could talk for hours just talking about literature, philosophy, wisdom, or just catching up with one another. To me John was a very great friend and I always admired John's character. He was encouraging, inspiring, selfless, personable, enthusiastic, animated, hilarious and surprisingly still happy despite his severe illness. But one thing he was for sure was being strong. John was one of the toughest people I have ever met. He did not even fear death, he was already content with the road he's been on and the great life he's lived. The people he's met, the places he's been, and the accomplishments he achieved. John always brought this up when we met - His only fear of death was to hurt the loved ones around him, most importantly his wife. I really wish I could have attended the service. My thoughts are with John's family and friends, of the many lives he touched dearly. I hope everyone continues to remember the amazing memories they had with John and cherish them. It's not very often you meet a wonderful person like him. R.I.P. John you will be missed.
