Marie Ann (known to everyone who loved her as "Mary Ann") Miceli, born on September 30,
1941, in the bustling heart of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, on March
30, 2026, in the serene surroundings of Lake Ariel, PA. Her departure marks the end of a vibrant
life filled with warmth, laughter, an unending devotion to her family, and an unabashed passion
for pets, and the silver screen.
Before retiring, Mary Ann was the proud owner of Shalimar Fabrics, a business that she ran with
passion. Her love for all things textile was only rivaled by her love for dogs, cats, her family, and
a good movie—a match made in popcorn heaven.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband John Miceli, and her parents Walter and Marie
Kanela, Mary Ann leaves behind a family who will carry forward her legacy of wit and charm.
Her son Walter Miceli, along with his wife Lisa, will no doubt continue to bring color into the
world, while her daughter Debbie Miceli will keep the familial spirit alive with unyielding grace.
Her grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Patrick Botie (US Army), along with his spouse Marc Silvis,
Timothy Botie and Brielle Rodriguez, Christina Miceli, and Samantha Miceli, will undoubtedly
miss their grandmother’s lively stories and her uncanny knack for making any gathering feel like
a warm hug.
The family would also like to recognize Margaret and Tom Carius and Marianne Godwin who
went above and beyond as friends and neighbors.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the wake on the morning of April 6, 2026
from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with services commencing at 12:30 p.m. at Morton Funeral
Home/Ridgewood Chapels, located at 663 Grandview Avenue, Ridgewood, NY 11385. Mary
Ann's final curtain call will conclude at St. John’s Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle
Village, NY 11379.
In tribute to Mary Ann, we ask that you watch a classic film, cuddle your furry friends (or adopt
a new furry friend), and maybe, just maybe, run your fingers across a bolt of fabric with a smile,
knowing that's exactly what she'd want
